Fuel Hike for Road Maintenance: NASS got it wrong.

Fuel Hike for Road Maintenance: NASS got it wrong.
.
The 8th Senate of the government of Nigeria is 'toying' with the idea of increasing the pump price of petrol by N5 per litre ostensibly to raise funds to maintain federal roads, and probably construct new ones.
.
Good intention you may say. But the road to hell is often paved with good intentions.
.
But the NASS got it wrong, very very wrong. The reason federal roads are in deplorable condition is not because of paucity of funds. No. It is a direct fallout of bad leadership, misappropiation of funds, and unbriddled corruption.
.
Let it be known to our 'honorable' members and 'distinguished' senators that even if the pump price is increased by N50, or fixed at N300 per ltr, there will still not be enough money available  to give us good roads. We will only end up creating more billionaire contractors and super rich politicians overnight, and in the proccess increasing the suffering and hardship of the common man.
.
Honorable members of the House, you are very insincere, you are very insensitive. To make such suggestion at this moment of cut-throat economic recession simply shows that the NASS is so so disconnected from the people they claim to represent. You are in a world of your own.
.
N5 incr for road maitenance, N5 incr to rescue the health sector, another N5 incr to arrest the falling standard in education, yet a N5 incr to boost agriculture, etc, etc. At the close of the day maybe a litre of petrol will be priced at N995. What logic!
.
Nigeria is a blessed country flowing with milk and honey, enough for everyone. But greed and avarice, selfishness and lack of focus of the prodigal sons in and out of government has completely ravaged the country.
.
It is the ruling elites that should make the major sacrifice, not the masses. The NASS should agree to a cut in their jumbo perks. They should agree to a one-house senate. They should be willing to return to their different carreers and serve us on part time.
